A pesar de su prioridad en publicación, este término, introducido por Liddle (1928, p. 190) y empleado por Staff of Caribbean Petroleum Company (1948) para designar el miembro más importante de su Formación Tercer Carbón, ha sido sustituido por el nombre mejor definido de Formación Barco. (Sutton, 1946; Schaub, 1948; Brondijk, 1967-b).
