Consideraciones históricas: El término Miembro Moreno fue originalmente publicado por Funkhouser et al. (1948), para designar el tercero, en orden descendente, de los siete miembros informales en que se subdividieron la Formación Oficina en el área mayor de Anaco, Anzoátegui central. Consiste predominantemente, en lutitas físiles, gris oscuro, con algunas areniscas calcáreas, calizas delgadas con estructuras de cono-in-cono, lignitos y arcilitas gris. El espesor va desde 213 a 518 m. De Sisto (1960-d) lo correlacionó con las arenas F-5 a I-3 de la Formación Oficina, en el área mayor de Oficina, Anzoátegui central.
