A partir de su referencia original como "Kaieteurian Conglomerate", publicada en la Guayana Británica por Anderson y Dunn (1895), el término "Serie" Kaieteuriana fue utilizado en Venezuela por diversos autores (Zuloaga, 1930; Liddle, 1928, 1946; Kugler et al., 1944) generalmente como sinónimo de la Formación Roraima y no siempre con el mismo sentido (1956, Léxico Estratigráfico de Venezuela). En Venezuela, el nombre fue reemplazado por el de Formación Roraima.
