Funkhouser et al. (1948) publicaron originalmente el término Miembro Amarillo, para designar el sexto, en orden descendente, de los siete miembros informales en los que subdividieron la Formación Oficina, en el área mayor de Anaco, Anzoátegui central. Está formado predominantemente por lutitas gris oscuro y lutitas y areniscas interlaminadas, aumentando el desarrollo de arenas hacia el norte. El espesor varía entre 198 y 275 m. De Sisto (1959) lo correlacionó con las arenas "P-1" a "R-2" de la Formación Oficina, en el área mayor de Oficina, Anzoátegui central.
