Liddle (1946, correlation chart) showed the "Orocual beds" in the Pliocene of eastern Venezuela indicating that these beds occur in the subsurface of the Orocual field. This field is located to the northeast of Jusepín field and to the west of Quiriquire field, all in northern Monagas.

The strata referred to by Liddle (1946, correlation chart) as "Orocual beds" are probably synonymous with the Las Piedras formation of Monagas.
