Original description: ibid.
A. Senn (1935, p. 82-83) assigned the name Intermediate beds for a lithological unit which is in conformable contact with the underlying Riecito limestone and the overlying Capadare limestone. This unit is typically developed in the Agua Linda, Riecito and Cerro de la Misión area of Eastern Falcón. Here, the Intermediate beds are about 400 meters thick and consist of interbedded sandy limestones, sandy clays and marls. The limestones contain some molluskd and reefal foraminifera (but whitout Miogypsina) are attributed to Senn's A1 zone. A middle Miocene age is assigned to this unit.
In the nomenclature of a H. H. Renz (1948, p. 24, 66, 69) the Intermediate beds of Senn correlate with part of the Huso clay member of the Pozón formation (Agua Salada group) and are covered by the lower part of the Robulus senni zone (Lucian stage) for which a middle Miocene (Helvetian) age indicated.
